Gary R. Jones is a litigator and administrative lawyer who focuses on a broad range of legislative and regulatory law as well as complex business litigation. His varied client base includes both commercial business entities, institutions, hospitals, and healthcare practitioners involved in a variety of administrative and litigation matters. Mr. Jones has also represented both county and local government. Mr. Jones has successfully represented clients in both federal and state courts in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and Virginia and has appeared before regulatory bodies, including administrative hearings at both the local and state level including matters before administrative Boards of Appeals and numerous hearings before the Maryland General Assembly.
 

Mr. Jones began his career representing hospitals and physician groups for a large Baltimore firm and was mentored by some of the State's finest lawyers. Originally focusing on litigation, he has expanded his nearly thirty-year practice to include all aspects of government relations and lobbying before the Maryland General Assembly. Mr. Jones serves as the resident partner of the firm's Annapolis office.

Also an active member of the community, Mr. Jones contributes a significant amount of time to civic and community causes including serving on the Board of Directors for Marion House, Inc. for three years and serving as President as well as on the Board of Directors for the Glyndon Community Association and Historic Glyndon. Mr. Jones' professional achievements have been recognized numerous times, and he has been listed as a local litigation star by Benchmark Litigation every year for the last decade, is named as one of the top attorneys in Law & Politics, and received the highest ratings and peer reviews from Martindale-Hubbell.
 

Experience:

  • Legislative representation to a number of national Dental Support Organizations, including Affordable Care, Heartland, and the Association of Dental Support Organizations (ADSO).
  • Leading counsel in the area of radiology, radiation oncology, and cancer care representation, including successfully handling issues for the State Radiological Society against legislation introduced in the General Assembly by the U.S. Oncology.
  • Successful representation of State wide coalition of hospitals and physician groups in defeating efforts to repeal Maryland's physician referral laws.
  • Successful representation of a coalition of scrap metal companies in passing state regulations defining the scrap metal industry and preventing metal theft.
  • Served as trial counsel for large academic medical center in litigation against insurers for declaratory judgment and breach of contract.
  • Coordinated the defense of corporate targets in criminal investigations involving insurance surety industry scrap metal and state elections/political action committees.
